A development of mobile-based directory for UCSI University (UCSI Mobiletory)

    Get PDF
A directory can be known as the board of the organization or locations of certain departments, or certain shop in the context of a shopping mall (Hendriana, Pranolo, Sulaiman, & Fong, 2015). It is important to serves as a guide to people as it can provide locations and information of a mall, especially in the case of a large shopping mall, it is hard to find the directory board (Hendriana, et al., 2015). As the capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur has been constructing many large-scale mall around the city,  namely Sunway Pyramid mall, Pavillion mall. Without the implementation of a directory board, people could be lost or taking a lot of times in finding their preferred shop. In the modern society, most of the commerce, business, education and activities are conducted in indoor area. The space needed for these facilities are growing into bigger and buildings are becoming more complex, this has urge the need of localization and mapping services within the buildings. In fact, getting lost in indoors are just as common as getting lost at outdoors. In spite of current outdoor mapping services such as Waze and Google Map that are using satellite technology, a GPS (Global Positioning System) to locate a GPS receiver at the Earth, it cannot provide the same services in indoors. The application was designed to let users search and aware of the information provided to a particular location or facility apart from providing floor plan to them. The methodology used in the system development process is prototyping methodology. The languages involves in the development includes JAVA, PHP and SQL programming language.

Fiber-To-The-Home (FTTH) is the most promising technology that can offer high bandwidth with more reliability and very high Quality of Service (QoS) comparing with the previous kind of traditional internet connection technologies such as DSL. This technology is based on the optical technology, which use fiber optics that connect the internet service to end-user, which is the subscriber. This work is done to investigate factors and challenges of deploying FTTH technology or a suitable architecture in Iraq. There will be challenges and issues that could be faced while implementing a certain type of FTTH architecture. This research investigated the best solution to provide an internet access to the end-user in Iraq that support higher capacity adaptability due to the increasing number of higher bandwidth access request. Firstly, current studies and works was done in order to explore knowledge about FTTH. Next, factors affecting successful deployment was identified through survey among users in Mosul (one of the main cities in Iraq) in order to generate factors by performing the analysis part based on the collected data to help proposing and choosing the suitable FTTH architecture in the end. The results of this research will be helpful for the government and companies that provide the internet access to the end-users in Iraq to deploy the technology successfully

Iris segmentation is foremost part of iris recognition system. There are four steps in iris recognition: segmentation, normalization, encoding and matching. Here, iris segmentation has been implemented using Hough Transform and IntegroDifferential Operator techniques. The performance of iris recognition system depends on segmentation and normalization technique.Iris recognition systems capture an image from individual eye. Then the image captured is segmented and normalized for encoding process. The matching technique,Hamming Distance,is used to match the iris codes of iris in the database weather it is same with the newly enrolled for verification stage. These processes produce values of average circle pupil, average circle iris, error rate and edge points. The values provide acceptable measures of accuracy False Accept Rate (FAR) or False Reject Rate (FRR).Hough Transform algorithm, provide better performance,at the expense of higher computational complexity. It is used to evolve a contour that can fit to a non-circular iris boundary. However, edge information is required to control the evolution and stopping the contour. The performance of Hough Transform for CASIA database was 80.88% due to the lack of edge information. The GAR value using Hough Transform is 98.9% genuine while 98.6% through Integro-Differential Operator

Automated Bus Crew Rescheduling for Late for Sign-On (LFSO) Event using Multi-Agent System

    Get PDF
Unpredictable events (UE) are major factors that cause crew rescheduling to be performed. One of the UE is when a crew is late for duty. In this research, it is termed as Late for Sign-On (LFSO). When LFSO occurred, the reschedule is needed to make sure available crew take the duty. Currently, there is no automated mechanism to handle the LFSO. Real time rescheduling approaches mostly are not supported due to static schedules constraint. Mathematical approaches require extensive computational power therefore delayed the real-time results. Meanwhile, manual rescheduling is prone to error and not optimum. This research objective is to develop a new approach in automating the crew rescheduling process using multiagent system. The agents dynamically adapt their behaviour to changing environments quickly and find solutions via negotiations and cooperation between them. Experiment is conducted using AgentPower simulation tool. The result concluded that the proposed technique is capable to reschedule quickly. The distribution of a duty also plays a major role in achieving rescheduling success

A PROPOSAL OF MUDA INDICATOR AGENT TO ESTIMATE LEAN MANUFACTURING VERIFICATION

Lean Manufacturing (LM) is the philosophy to improve productivity of manufacturing system by eliminating wastes. LM tools have been implemented as software tools in order to implement this philosophy. However, implementing LM in factories does not always succeed because of several reasons; insufficient expertise and knowledge on LM practitioners, dynamic feature of complicated manufacturing processes, difficulty in quantifying the benefits of LM implementation, and etc. Simulation-based approaches have been proposed to support LM implementation, and their effectiveness has been reported in several papers. However, they are not suitable for LM practitioners who are not familiar with simulation software. Therefore, some appropriate niche techniques to bridge the gap between LM practitioners and simulation-based approaches are expected to achieve successful LM implementation. This research proposes an agent-based approach to LM implementation using Muda Indicator (MI) agent to narrow the gap. This paper presents the overview of MI agent, defines quartile calculation to determine Muda level, explains MI indication by MI agent, and shows the feasibility of MI agent using a manufacturing process model. The feasibility study showed how MI agent presents transition of quantifying wastes during simulation in a dynamic manner
